πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸŒΏ A New Trail Is Taking Shape: Swamp Rabbit Trail Extension Connects Simpsonville & Fountain Inn

Big things are happening along the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail! Construction is officially underway on a brand-new, two-mile paved extension that will link Simpsonville and Fountain Inn, creating an even stronger connection between the two communities.

Often referred to as the β€œGolden Strip” extension, this new stretch of trail is designed as a shared-use path for walkers, runners, cyclists, and anyone who enjoys getting outside. Once complete, it will wind through wooded areas, pass alongside neighborhoods, and connect to several key local destinationsβ€”making it both scenic and practical.

What to Know About the Golden Strip Extension

  • πŸ“ Location: Southern Greenville County, connecting Simpsonville and Fountain Inn

  • πŸ“ Length & Design: 2 miles of paved, multi-use trail for pedestrians and cyclists

  • 🌳 Route Highlights:

    • Wooded areas and green spaces

    • Nearby neighborhoods like Mulberry Estates

    • Easy access near Fountain Inn High School, Bryson Elementary, and Heritage Park

    • Close to local venues including the CCNB Amphitheatre

  • 🚧 Timeline: Groundbreaking took place in early 2026, with an expected opening in late spring or early summer 2026

Why This Matters

This extension isn’t just about recreationβ€”it’s about connection. The project is designed to make it easier for residents to travel safely between Simpsonville and Fountain Inn without a car, encouraging healthier lifestyles and more active transportation options. It also adds another beautiful section to one of the Upstate’s most loved community assets.

As construction continues, anticipation is already building. By summer, locals could be strolling, biking, and rolling between the two cities on a trail that brings people, neighborhoods, and destinations closer togetherβ€”one mile at a time.

We’ll keep an eye on progress and share updates as opening day gets closer!

🎢 A New Chapter for Live Music in Simpsonville: Opry Entertainment Group Selected to Manage CCNB Amphitheatre

Simpsonville, S.C. β€” The City of Simpsonville is tuning up for an exciting new era at the CCNB Amphitheatre. City Council has signaled its intent to finalize a contract with Opry Entertainment Group (OEG) to serve as the venue’s new manager, with a final vote expected at the February business meeting.

At a recent special meeting, Council voted unanimously (7–0) to move forward with a resolution approving the agreement, setting the stage for a formal vote on February 10. If approved, OEG will take on the promotion, operation, and management of the amphitheatre at Heritage Park.

Mayor Paul Shewmaker, who served on the selection committee, called the agreement a β€œnew day” for the amphitheatre.

The recommendation follows months of evaluation by a committee appointed by Council and the Mayor, which selected OEG in December after reviewing multiple candidates. The CCNB Amphitheatre is widely recognized as one of South Carolina’s premier outdoor concert venues, hosting major touring acts and community events throughout the year.

Opry Entertainment Group CEO Patrick Moore expressed enthusiasm about joining the Simpsonville community.

For music lovers and event-goers across the Golden Strip, this partnership signals fresh momentumβ€”and even bigger nightsβ€”under the stars in Simpsonville. 🎀✨

🏨 Ground Broken on New SpringHill Suites Hotel in Downtown Fountain Inn

Exciting progress is underway in Fountain Inn as developers have officially broken ground on a new SpringHill Suites by Marriott in the heart of downtown.

Construction crews began grading and demolition work on the long-vacant site at 300 Jones Street in early February, marking a major milestone for the project. Over the coming weeks, work will continue with stormwater infrastructure before vertical construction begins. The hotel is expected to be completed in 2027.

The 109-room hotel, approved by Fountain Inn City Council in July 2025, is projected to generate $2.3 million in revenue for the city over the next decade, according to City officials. The project is being developed by Fountain Inn Hotel Partners and is seen as a key addition to the city’s growing downtown district.

The project also addresses a longstanding downtown need, adding 60 new public parking spaces along with over 100 on-site parking spaces for hotel guests.

With dirt officially moving and momentum building, the SpringHill Suites project represents another strong vote of confidence in downtown Fountain Innβ€”and a big step forward for residents, visitors, and local businesses alike.
