Good Monday morning, Simpsonville! 🌞

Okay friends… we earned this spring.

After a colder-than-usual winter — and yes, actual snow ❄️ — this weekend felt like a reward. Sunshine, warm air, neighbors out walking again. It was the kind of weekend that makes you want to clean out the garage, plant something new, or sit on a patio a little longer than usual.

Sure, temperatures dip back into the 40s and 50s for a couple of days, but by midweek we’re climbing right back into the 70s. Classic Upstate spring: a little moody, a little dramatic, but definitely headed in the right direction.

Spring fever has officially entered the chat…so let’s take a look at what this new season has in store for us. 🌷

🩸 Community Call: Red Cross Reports Critical Blood Shortage

Recent winter storms across South Carolina have forced the cancellation of dozens of blood drives — and now the American Red Cross says the situation is urgent.

Nationwide, the organization lost nearly 20,000 units of blood due to storm-related cancellations. In South Carolina alone, the Red Cross typically collects around 400 units per day (about 5,000 per month). That supply has taken a significant hit.

Why It Matters

Blood donations support:

  • Accident and trauma victims

  • Cancer patients

  • Individuals with sickle cell disease

  • Surgical patients

  • Emergency situations

Each single donation can potentially help up to three people — and a unit of blood only has a shelf life of about 40 days.

Right now, there’s especially high demand for:

  • O-positive

  • O-negative

…but all blood types are needed and appreciated.

💡 Thinking About Donating?

Scott Brown, Red Cross Region Donor Services Executive for South Carolina, shared a simple perspective: If someone you loved needed blood, you wouldn’t hesitate. Sometimes it’s just a matter of making the time.

If you’re able, please consider stepping up for our neighbors.

🌮 15-Minute Shrimp Tacos (ALDI Win)

We tried something new the other night, and it was so easy I almost couldn’t believe it.

I grabbed the Fremont Fish Market Toss & Serve Shrimp with Chipotle Sea Salt Sauce from ALDI, and they were ready in minutes. No peeling. No seasoning. No drama.

Then we loaded up the tacos with:

  • Sour cream

  • Guacamole

  • Pico de gallo

  • Coleslaw mix (that shredded cabbage in the produce section — so easy)

  • Crumbled queso fresco

Warm up some tortillas, pile everything on, and dinner is DONE.

They tasted like something we’d order out… but for a fraction of the price and way less effort.

10/10 would make again.

Got a go-to easy weeknight dinner?

We just wanna talk, Phil.
